PAUPM boast a membership of more than 43,000 proud members ranging from the energetic 20 year olds to the vintage 80 year olds. Although we graduated from the School of Agriculture (1931- 1951), College of Agriculture (1952 - 1971), Universiti Pertanian (1971 - 1997) or Universiti Putra (1997 - present) we all share the 'Serdang Spirit'. From an association of just agrobio technocrats we now count medical doctors, aeronautical engineers, accountants, musicians, etc. among our members.
The association is the ideal platform for alumni from different generations to bond with each other, share experiences and give back to the Alma Mater and the Nation.
Persatuan Alumni Universiti Putra Malaysia (PAUPM) or Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Association was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies under the Societies act 1966 on 29 June 1971 as Persatuan Bekas Siswa Kolej Pertanian Malaya or the Association of Former Students of the College of Agriculture, Malaya.
The name was changed to Persatuan Alumni Universiti Pertanian Malaysia on 23 November 1973 to reflect the change in the name of the Alma Mater.
The objectives of PAUPM are as follows:
To bring about effective bonding among alumni and between alumni and the campus community that will result in the generation of various programs benficial to the nation, Alma Mater, members and students.
We will champion the cause of the agriculture industry and its related activities as our primary area of focus.
To be synonymously associated with the Serdang Spirit i.e. pioneering, bold and resilient; championing diverse activities aimed at enhancing the productivity and competencies of members, the Alma Mater, agricultural community and the nation as a whole.
The association is managed by an Executive Committee that is elected by the members at the bi-annual General Meeting and serves a two year term. The committee consists of:
The President, with the consent of the Executive Committee, is empowered to appoint 4 other Committee Members.
The Executive Committee members for the 2011 - 2013 term are as follows:
In keeping with one of its objectives to "Assist the university to improve its performance in its activities, research and service", PAUPM and its members have consistently made monetary and non-monetary contributions to the Alma Mater. In these very challenging times "alumni giving back" can make a significant impact on the performance and prestige of the university.
Currently PAUPM makes a significant annual contribution to Yayasan Pak Rashid (YPR) and sponsors the Alumni Gold Medal (see below). In addition, PAUPM makes ad hoc contributions to promote sports, cultural and social activities organised by students and staff.

The Alumni Gold Medal was first introduced in 1977 to replace the UPM Alumni Association Shield for the 'Best all Round' graduate. The award consists of:
